| TRAINING |
OUR PROGRAM
Maple Valley Mule Co. is dedicated to training quality saddle mules and
horses. We believe in working from the ground up to establish a solid
foundation. All of our colts are started in the round pen to develop a bond
of trust and respect. We work with our clients to customize the training
program to fit the individual needs of the colt & owner.
MULE/COLT STARTING
For mules & colts 2 years and older - $750 per month includes full-care
board. Training begins with basic round pen work, halter training, sacking
out, ground work, working with feet, saddling and packing. From there we
move on to riding, starting in the bosal, teaching the animal to give to light
pressure, and respond to appropriate commands. Once they are working
well in the bosal, I change to a snaffle bit and work towards the same
responses. After I have a good stop on them, they progress to trail work:
crossing bridges, through tunnels, crossing water, lateral work, as well as
many other situations they may encounter on the trail.
PROBLEM SOLVING/TUNE UPS
$50 per day or $750 per month, includes full-care board. We can help
tune up your mule or horse, help solve behavior and training problems or
just do some fine tuning. Call for more information.
